Hi, guys! It’s been a while since I’ve last done a review and giveaway! Christmas season is also here, so I thought this post would be very apt for the season of giving! I’m here to share with you another product review in collaboration with Japan Candy Box! ♥
Thank you so much, Japan Candy Box, for this opportunity to receive tons of delicious treats!! ♥
Similar to my previous Kawaii Box Review, the Japan Candy Box is a monthly subscription box, but for Japanese sweets and treats! By subscribing to the box, you get to receive a box filled with hand-picked quirky Japanese sweets directly to your home every month!
Upon receiving my package, I already caught the sweet scent of the treats inside! I made sure to leave space in my stomach so I could get to try and appreciate each and every snack that was inside the box! ♥
Once you open the box, the first thing you will see is this print showing you steps on how to perfectly enjoy your Japan Candy Box. I particularly liked reading “Sweetness has arrived,” just cause it feels extra special when you’ve been waiting for a package to arrive, and this is the first message that greets you! haha ♥
One of the first things you’ll see is also this Thank You card that has a list of all the items printed on the back (but I didn’t want to read it so that it wouldn’t spoil the element of surprise! haha!).
And, ta-da~ The very first look of what’s actually inside the box! I love how it’s already such a cute explosion of colors! Very kawaii of Japan Candy Box! ♥
So now, let’s take a look at each and every item that’s actually inside the box!
1. Popin’ Cookin’ Oekaki Animal Candy Land DIY Kit
First up is this candy DIY kit! I’ve actually tried out a similar kind of DIY kit before, but I failed miserably during that attempt. I’m glad I got to get another one of these, since you can only really get them in Japan!
This one has cute penguin design molds! You can mix and match the colors so you can come up with your own designs!
I didn’t get to try it out yet, since I feel that this is the kind of DIY project you wanna do when you want to wind down and relax, so I’m setting this aside for the perfect moment! haha! If you’re interested in how it works, I took some picture of the instructions at the back! 😀
This is probably how you should expect the final product to look like! ♥
2. Coris Berry Mix Soft Candy
Next up is this soft candy! I actually really liked this one, buy I got a bit confused since the label says “candy,” but when I tasted it, I think it was actually chewing gum? Nonetheless, I really liked it since I like fruity flavored candy, plus candy that’s on the softer side, in terms of texture!
It a really charming tiny packaging with this cute monkey cartoon character on the front!
This is how the candy looks like inside! They’re actually very soft chewy candy. Once you bite into it, it has this powdery kind of texture, then it you start to taste the fruitiness little by little.
3. Doraemon Ramune Squash Soda Bubble Gum
I found this one really adorable, just because I’m biased towards character collaboration packaging! haha! Unlike the previous chewing gum, this one’s soda-flavored. When I tasted it, it kind of reminded me of Sprite, and 7Up soda.
When you open the packaging, you’ll see all sort of gum sticks with different wrapper designs–each showing design under the theme of Sports. This made me very nostalgic about this old chewing gum called Bazooka that I used to eat when I was young. The wrapper would have different kinds of comics printed on it, just like these Doraemon gum sticks with different sports wrappers.
I liked how I randomly picked the baseball design first, cause I used to play for the softball varsity team back in high school! If you’re the collector kind of person, you can even try keeping and collecting each and every type of wrapper design!
4. Coris Soft Centered Grape Gum
This next one was actually my favorite!! I made my sister try it too, and she picked it as her favorite as well! It’s a soft and sour chewing gum in grape flavor.
It already looks like sour candy just based solely on the packaging pic of the cartoon character showing a sour face. haha!
This is how the chewing gum looks like once your open the wrapper!
This is definitely my kind of candy cause I really like fruity and sour-flavored treats. The texture’s also so soft, and the taste is just so juicy once you bite into it that it’s almost so tempting to swallow it (BUT YOU CAN’T CAUSE IT’S GUM HUHU)!
5. Kabaya Mixed Fruit Bottle Candy
The next one is a hard candy. Hard candy is not exactly my favorite, but the fruit flavor variants compensate for that! haha!
I found the packaging of this one really cute cause of all the vibrant colors and the cute-sy cartoon patterns!
Another reason why I like the packaging is because of the lid! Very convenient if you just want to pop in a treat!
This is how the hard candy looks like. When you taste it, it’s really sweet (I’m a sweet tooth, but I find this sweeter that normal) and really wakes you up with the level of sweetness!
6. Kravie Dodotto Octopus Eggs DIY Kit
The next one is another DIY kit (yayy more DIY stuff!). The design for this one is a cute octopus shape. Similar to the first DIY item, you also have to follow a process wherein you have to use a mold to get the candy design.
The instructions are placed at the back.
This is probably how the end results should look like!
I’m guessing you can also place toppings once you’re done? 😀 That’s something I haven’t seen in other DIY kits yet! Very cute!
7. Kanro Pure Mini Gummies
Hooray for the next one! Because it’s also a fruit-flavored snack (I love mi my fruity candy huhu)! This one is orange-flavored, and is also a chewy and gummy type of candy. The flavor is also slightly sour, which I totally love! ♥
This is how the candy looks once you open the wrapper!
8. Calbee Vegetable Snacks
The next one is actually more of a savory snack! It vegetable-flavored chips. Once you bite into it, it has a slightly crispy texture. I actually made my sister try it, and we both really liked it! Because of its vegetable flavor, it doesn’t taste as unhealthy as your typical potato chips and the like (not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing! haha!).
Sorry, I got amused by the tiny character peeking at the “tear here” sign! haha!
This is how the chips look once you open the wrapper!
9. Lotte Pokemon Ramune Candy
The next one is a Pokemon concept candy! I’m not familiar with this Pokemon generation, but it has the trademark “Who’s that Pokemon?” silhouette right next to first evolution form character.
It’s actually also a hard candy. And, once you bite into it, it has this powdery texture. Kind of like biting a chewable tablet! And, of course, as the label shows, this one is of melon flavor!
This is how the candy looks once you open the wrapper! The candy also reminds me of medicine tablets! haha!
10. Tohato Caramel Corn
And, the last item was actually one of the items I also got in my Kawaii (August 2016) Box! ♥ I’m really glad I got this one again, cause it’s actually pretty delicious!
It’s caramel corn chips, and just as its name dictates, it really tastes like caramel mixed with corn (and also hints of nutty flavors–as seen on the packaging)!
I still find the packaging with the face very cute! haha!
This is how the snack looks once you open the wrapper!
The snack has a nice texture–slightly crunchy but dissolves easily once it’s in your mouth! I feel like this would be a good snack while watching a movie! Haha!
At the bottom of the box are these cute promo cards! Check out the promos on these cards to get your own discounts!! ♥
And, that’s pretty much it! Let me tell you though–I got really full after sampling all of these snacks, so I had to jog it off after! hahaha! I ended up sharing lots of them to my siblings too, and we each got to pick our own favorites!
I’d like you guys to enjoy the experience of the Japan Candy Box as much as I did, so now, it’s your chance to get your very own Japan Candy Box!! ♥ All you have to do is follow the instructions in the Rafflecopter widget down below. The lucky winner will be randomly selected, and will then be contacted by the Japan Candy Box team.
Good luck!!! ♥
