The Ibn Battuta Mall is one of the most uniquely designed malls I’ve ever seen. Coming from an architecture background, it makes sense to me for a mall to maximize space by stacking it up to a couple of floors; however, this mall only stands with a singular floor with areas branching out into different kinds of “zones.” Because of its design, you can say that it’s highly accessible for all kinds of people (wheel chair friendly, easily walk-able, etc.).
Though, what stands out the most about this mall is its interior design. While its exterior is interesting in its own way with the massive circular hole that punches through the facade of the building, to me, its interior is what makes it even more of a gem of an architectural beauty. I’ll let the photos do the talking.
We chanced upon this calligraphy artists who will offer to write your name (or a friend’s name) in Arabic characters, all for one kind of fee: “Just a smile.”
A lot of people began to flock to his table due to his friendly and jolly personality.
My name in Arabic calligraphy! (I think he automatically writes a title like “Beautiful Princess” or some other, depending if you are male or female. haha)
People chose this as the “unofficial” place to leave your boards for the ink to dry. (lol)
The interior details were just really gorgeous to look at. ♥
After spending the earlier half of the day at Ibn Battuta, we headed back to the Dubai Marina area for our scheduled evening yacht ride (thank you to our Dubai friends, Ate Rona and Kuya Roby for the yacht ride present!). The yacht rides at Dubai are actually very pricey, but we were just very blessed to have such good friends there to accommodate us and provide us the best that they could so that we could all enjoy our very first experience in Dubai. (Truly am grateful!!)
The bedroom can be accessed from this whole in the ceiling/floor!
Back at Dubai Marina with all its gorgeous buildings
We ended a bit early in the evening, so my family and I decided to go back to Ibn Battuta Mall for some last-minute shopping. We didn’t want to waste our time since it was our second-to-the-last day in Dubai. (</3)
