Tokyo DisneySea is such a dream of a place to visit. ♥ I know that only a few DisneySeas actually exist in the entire world, so getting the chance to actually be there felt like a very special kind of surreal.
[Warning: This blog entry will be very photo heavy! Please be patient to let all the photos load! ♥ P.S. This tackles days four and five, since we also went to Akihabara on day five, but I, unfortunately, was not able to take snaps of the experience, since we mostly went shopping at Don Quijote!]
We decided that it would be wise to book for a hotel room within the Tokyo Disney Resort, since the AirBnB we booked for was all the way in Ebisu. We ended up booking Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel, which is a hotel I would highly recommend for anyone looking for something more affordable (for Tokyo Disney Resort standards), and of good quality. Even with the affordable prices they offer, the hotel doesn’t fail to exude a luxurious and grand feel.
Sheraton Hotel Lobby
You can actually purchase your Disney passports (a.k.a your tickets) at the hotel lobby. I think all Tokyo Disney Resort hotels allow this (correct me if I am wrong). We found it really convenient since we didn’t need to line up for tickets all the way at the main entrance.
Disney passport price guide!
A bit of a funny story: we got upgraded to a better room, since the room we originally booked for wasn’t prepared during the time we checked in. Funny enough, there were two double beds, and two single beds in this room, even if we were just four persons staying in for the night! (Yey for space! lol) And it was absolutely perfect, since we knew that we would end up needing a good night’s rest for the amount of walking we would be experiencing once inside DisneySea.
We were beyond excited when we found out our upgrade room would be the “character room!” I guess we’re still such children-at-heart! lol ♥
Our supah-dupah cute hotel room! ♥
Our hotel room’s hi-tech toilet, as typically found in Japan!
The view from our balcony! To the right, you could see DisneySea, and to the left, DisneyLand. 🙂
Having settled into our hotel room, we got ready and set out for our adventure in DisneySea! It’s very easy to get to DisneySea from the hotel, since the station is just across the hotel. From our station stop, it was only just a shuttle ride left to get to the main entrance.
View of a large open parking lot while riding the shuttle.
Some useful maps I found at the station.
Finally making it to DisneySea, here is where the adventure begins! Everything went by real quick from all our excitement, so I will just be sharing with you all the snaps I was able to take while we were in DisneySea. Enjoy! ♥
Steamboat Mickey! 😀
This is the Hotel Nightower, which is the quick-drop kind of thriller ride. A combination of horror and extreme!
That bear backpack though! ♥
I found it fun to snap random outfits of people in DisneySea. I don’t know, there’s just something about Japan’s fashionable culture. People can walk around so freely in such diverse styles, and it’s completely of the norm to them already, and it’s something I really love about Japan!
matchy-matchy ♥
Adorable tropical orange-flavored Mickey Mouse popsicle! This was a total life saver under the blazing heat!
This was at the queuing area for the Indiana Jones ride. Shadow of the Colossus/Ico/Legends of the Hidden Temple vibes!
The line goes on~
Headed to the Mermaid Lagoon next! Ugh. The castle is so pretty I cannot
My heart just swelled upon seeing such a wonderfully illuminated interior! ♥ The burst of colors is just as magical as well!
We headed to the food court since it was already way past lunch time. Starving children lol
Our lunch inside the mermaid lagoon: oyster + cream sandwich, mini pizza, chowder soup, breaded shrimp (I’m not too sure if I recalled it right. lol. I forgot the names, but I’m pretty sure those were in the ingredient descriptions.)
Inside the Sleepy Whale is a souvenir shop!
We went inside this cave-like area and found the thingamabobs!! lol.
The view from the top of Ariel’s hideout.
Even the trash bins are adorable! ♥
Headed to the Arabian zone afterwards~
Such a gorgeous plaza! ♥ The design reminds me of Al Mamoon from Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch!
Outside, there are actually some stalls where you can buy Arabian-themed snacks. For us, I think we bought some curry-flavored popcorn around this point, which compensated for the quick late lunch we had at Mermaid Lagoon, since the savory flavor made the popcorn taste like less of a snack, and a bit more like a meal.
Inside the food court for this area, I was able to check that they served meals with curry and pita bread. The Asian in me desperately wanted rice, so we tried looking for an alternative place to eat in. lol
Steampunk Zone~
Okay, so me being a total wuss and not like riding extreme rides, I was set on riding “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” since my sister convinced me that it was just a normal exploration ride. Well, man, were we wrong! For the most part, it IS an exploration ride of the subterranean zone, but there was one part in the ride wherein the vehicle just suddenly swooped down into quick drop. Gave me the shock of my life! Nonetheless, I still had lots of fun on this ride! lol!
These are some of the really cool things they have on display at the queuing area! 😀
The flesh thing kind of creeps me out, and also kind of reminds me of Attack on Titan! lol.
Now, the next ride we went to was a bit of a funny experience! My sister was familiar with the ride, but it became a totally new experience since the whole narration was in Japanese! lol. We were so confused! I don’t want to spoil the ride for you guys, but I guess, well, it has something to do with, as the title suggests, being 20,000 leagues under the sea. lol. The whole ride has narrations, and we just felt so lost as to what to do the whole time, since we all weren’t fluent in Japanese! (P.S. much screaming was involved) hahaha!
Some snapshots of the price list in the food court–I thought it might serve useful for you guys! 🙂
*Internally jealous of Japanese school girls and their adorable uniforms. :(*
It was getting pretty late, by my two other sisters decided to ride one last ride before calling it a night. They wanted to ride the Nightower. And, AGAIN, me being the total wuss (lol) decided to back out. My mom and I decided to just wait at a different area.
The Hotel Nightower.
While my sisters were riding the Nightower, my mom and I decided to walk around and ended up exploring the Toy Story area. It’s not as big as the other zones, and has more rides catered to children. It has a very cute carnival-like atmosphere, and was nice place to just relax and watch what everyone wanted to play in the game booth area.
“You’ve got a friend in Toyville!” 😀
We headed onto the Navy/Sailboat area afterwards, since we were pretty sure the line for the Nightower would have been pretty long. We decided to kill some time by taking some photos and watching some of the live shows in the area.
Donald, Goofy, and the rest of the gang performing!
Finally regrouping, we headed to the Mediterranean area to catch a good spot to watch the Fantasia light show. One thing that fascinated me about finding a spot for the show was how organized and systematic the staff were in accommodating the audience. They wanted each and every person to take up enough space as for what’s needed for them. So, they would make people adjust in an organized fashion if they felt that there was still some extra space that they could maximize to accommodate other people who want to watch the light show as well. I find this culture of being considerate and just to the needs of the people, without discriminating, very pleasing and respectful.
There was an area for viewing nearer to the lake, but we decided to stay by the bridge.
Everyone eagerly waiting for the main event~
“Imagination~ Follow your dreams~”
The Fantasia light show was such a dreamy spectacle. I actually filmed the whole thing! I plan to share it on my future vlog, but maybe just portions of it, since the whole thing spanned for about thirty minutes! haha!
After watching the light show, we headed to a nearby bakery to buy some snacks to bring with us back to the hotel.
The morning after: us waiting at the lobby while my sister checks us out of the hotel.
Coffee while waiting
And that’s a wrap for our DisneySea adventure! Despite the photo-heavy post, I think it was well worth it to exert the effort of taking snaps of every piece of beauty I could find in DisneySea. There’s just something so enthralling and mystifying about the whole place, the ambiance, and the experience. I felt like I’ve stepped out of reality for a day, and floated into the dreams of my inner child! All in all, truly a great and magical experience. Disney never fails to meet–much more, exceed–my expectations. ♥
